The initial idea emerged from exploring how AR could enhance aspects of today’s society. As a small team passionate about climate change, we decided to educate the younger generation on this critical issue through an interactive and immersive medium. We chose to use Unity3D and the Vuforia SDK to visualize our concept.
Our approach followed the RAD (rapid application development) methodology to create, design, and develop iterations of the proposed AR application. Through several interactions, we adjusted the design based on user feedback and extensive research. The use of AR aimed to increase awareness of climate change, incorporating gamification to engage the audience effectively.
We developed a polished prototype with one complete level. Social integration allowed users to share their scores and log in with Facebook. We contacted WWF and Greenpeace UK, presenting them with the prototype and our vision. Although we were in the stages of advancing the application, time constraints and other projects led us to keep it as a prototype.
